Tips On How To Gain Control of Your Health

Long-lasting health is more about choice than chance. While we can't change our family history or birthday, we can control our lifestyle choices that affect our vitality and longevity. It’s time to prioritize our health and get our lives back!

Whether it's playing tennis, traveling the Mediterranean, or tooling around your house, feeling good starts with good food. A nutritious diet can help you be in control of your health, as nutrition and physical activity are two factors that can help prevent and manage chronic conditions.

Does Food Affect Brain and Heart Health?

The food that we choose to eat is the starting point for protecting our brains from the behavioral changes and memory loss associated with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Research shows that limiting processed sugar from excess sweets and treats is one way to protect your brain’s health. Instead of something like cake or candy, reach for Medjool dates that are wholesome and naturally sweet!

Consuming more soluble fiber from barley, fruit, and oats helps reduce cholesterol levels which lower risk factors for heart disease. Medjool dates are a great source of fiber and also boost potassium levels, which is a necessary nutrient for managing blood pressure. In regards to mental health, a systematic review of studies indicates a diet high in fruit and vegetables has been linked with improved mental health in adults. This includes improved feelings of optimism, self-efficacy, life satisfaction, and happiness.

In addition to aiding brain and heart health, a recent review article in the journal Nutrients finds that consuming whole fruits have several other health benefits. These benefits include protecting against constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, and diverticular disease, promoting long-term weight management, lowering the risk for cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes, decreasing the risk for depression, and improving bone mineral density.

A nutritious diet may also help to manage arthritis and support a strong immune system, which is so important as we age. Including more plants in your diet is much easier and sustainable when they taste good, and Medjool dates are a delicious treat to help you maintain great overall health that leads to vitality. With sixteen essential nutrients including potassium to lower blood pressure and dietary fiber to manage blood sugar and appetite, they're a delightful way to fuel a fulfilling life.

Medjool dates provide slowly digested carbohydrates to boost your morning walk, workout, or swim class or give you a pick-me-up for an afternoon hike or bike ride. Medjool dates are a simple, delicious fruit for the whole family.
