Savory S’mores with Natural Delights® Medjool Dates – Sweet & Salty Snack Idea

These Savory S’mores are an irresistible twist on the classic sweet treat — a perfect balance of salty, melty, creamy, and naturally sweet. Built on your favorite crackers, each bite layers roasted cheese, thinly sliced cured meat, and Natural Delights® Medjool Dates for a chewy, caramel-like sweetness that ties everything together. Finished with a drizzle of agave and a fresh mint leaf, these bite-sized stacks are simple to assemble yet bold enough to steal the show.

Ingredients

  • Natural Delights® Medjool Dates (whole or pitted)
  • Crackers of choice
  • Cheese, cut into small roastable pieces (such as halloumi, mozzarella, or any firm melt-friendly cheese)
  • Thinly sliced cured meat (prosciutto, salami, or similar)
  • Agave nectar, for drizzling
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional)

Preparation

  1. Lay out your preferred crackers on a board or tray.
  2. Using an open flame (a grill, stovetop flame, or kitchen torch works), carefully roast small pieces of cheese until soft, melty, and lightly golden.
  3. Place a piece of roasted cheese onto each cracker. Top with a slice of cured meat.
  4. Add one Natural Delights® Medjool Date (whole or pitted) to each stack. Press gently to help it settle into the cheese and meat.
  5. Drizzle lightly with agave nectar. Add a fresh mint leaf if desired.
  6. Enjoy warm while the cheese is melty and the dates are soft and chewy.

*While Medjool dates are high in natural sugars, they are low on the glycemic index thanks to a balanced amount of soluble fiber. The complex carbohydrates found in Medjool dates are digested at a slower rate, making them a source of dietary fiber and releasing energy to the body over a longer period of time.
