The beginnings of Natural Delights.

about_split-content__image

You might ask: “How did Natural Delights get its start?” And a great follow-up question would be: “How did Medjool dates even make it to this country?” Because the first answer depends on the second.

You see, long ago, something called Bayoud disease nearly wiped out the date palm in Morocco. But thanks to a series of events, 11 offshoots were collected, brought to America and planted. Five didn’t make it, but what we call The Original Six, were relocated to Bard, California by Stanley Dillman in 1944.

And that’s why we have Medjool dates in the United States. And why there’s a brand called Natural Delights.

When they get high heat, low humidity and plenty of water, our date palms make lots and lots of Medjool dates

What's a microclimate? A unique combination of air, soil and water that differs from the surrounding area. And Bard Valley is the perfect microclimate for growing the biggest, softest, sweetest dates. It's 150-square-miles at the intersection of Arizona, California and Mexico. And since 1944, date growers and their workers, the "Palmeros" have tended and protected it all. That's three generations of date passion.
