They're fresh fruit.
Even though they look like dried fruit, they're not. They're fresh, never dried.
And versatile.
So delicious.
Our very special place.
They have pits.
Medjool dates, and all the other varieties, have pits, not seeds. They’re a stone fruit, like a peach or plum.
But don’t throw them away.
Date pits are edible — just don’t try eating them like a nut; that would be bad. Instead, bake them for an hour at 350º, grind them in your coffee grinder and make a delicious, caffeine-free coffee substitute. Or just crush the pits and steep in hot water for a nice herbal tea.
